Who this is for

Youth, adults and families carrying what came before them

Tavita works within the Milwaukee Public School system, with Social Services, and with community agencies — serving youth and families, primarily African Enslaved Descendants of Slavery and Latino families, through grief, loss, and intergenerational trauma.

How she works

The approaches, and what each one actually does

Somatic Experiencing

A body-oriented approach to trauma treatment. Utilizing one’s own body to release traumatic shock and tap into the innate healing abilities of the nervous system to restore one back to wholeness.

Psychodynamic therapy

Relationally based form of therapy that looks at the past when it invades the present. When one’s life is being negatively affected and the quality of life lacks luster, we take time to look at the impact of childhood relationships, intergenerational patterns of family connectivity, and unresolved concerns.

Mindfulness and meditation

Drawn from more than ten years of her own contemplative practice, and used here in service of the clinical work: steadying attention, and building the capacity to stay present with what is difficult.

Ecotherapy

Therapeutic work that takes place in relationship with the natural world rather than only in a room.

Work-life stabilization

Practical support for the conditions around the distress — work, housing, school, and the daily structures that either hold a person or wear them down.

If you have no insurance

A sliding scale is available for those facing economic hardship. It is worked out directly between you and Tavita, and asking about it costs nothing.

Getting started

The first step is a free 15-minute consultation — a conversation to work out whether this is the right fit, before anything is booked. Sessions are in person at the Bayside office or by telehealth. Reach out by email or phone. Allow 72 hours for a response.

You do not have to arrive with the words for it already worked out.

A first 15-minute conversation is free, and it is a conversation, not an intake.
